 Write About Your Experience

The written word is a powerful tool of expression. Whether you wrote a journal or blog throughout your time abroad or are just now starting to write down your stories and observations, processing your memories and emotions is an awesome way to reflect back on your experience.

SUBMIT A STORY TO ASIALEARN

AsiaLearn is interested in your most memorable experiences, your adventures, your impressions of the local culture, your challenges, etc. Not only do they help us better understand the actual experience, but it also allows us to help promote studying abroad to more and more students.

Submit any sort of writing to alumni@globalinksabroad.org that might be a good reflection of your experience. It doesn't have to be long or profound or anything, just share what you can share. We are excited to hear about anything you want to write about, but we are especially interested in any stories or thoughts on the following:

  • Festivals, shows, activities, etc. that you may have attended or participated in while in Australia
  • Interactions with the local culture; cultural immersion
  • Adventurous activities that challenged you
  • Strong evironmental practices you observed or took on while in NZ

Have questions or want to talk about your ideas first? Contact the Alumni Coordinator at alumni@globalinksabroad.org.

By submitting a piece of writing to AsiaLearn, you will have completed one of the activities of AsiaLearn's active alumni program, the enCompass Program. LEARN MORE>

Thanks in advance for your contribution!

WRITING CONTESTS AND SUBMITTING ARTICLES ELSEWHERE

Many websites and magazines accept written submissions on various topics related to abroad experiences. Several depend almost entirely on submitted articles for their content. If you consider yourself a more experienced writer, we definitely recommend submitting your work to these various publications.

Not only will publishing your stories be beneficial to both you and the reader, but it is great experience for you and your resume. Keep in mind that some organizations and publishers pay for submissions, while others do not. There are also a variety of writing/photo contests that offer prizes.

The following organizations publish articles from study abroad students:

Your home university or local newspaper may also accept articles or photo/writing submissions. Be sure to send us a copy of your submission too and let us know if it gets published. We always love to see what accomplishments our alumni are making in any area.
