Language Instruction

Prior language skill is not a requirement for studying abroad on AsiaLearn programs nor is it a required course at any of our partner universities. However, cultural integration is at the heart of AsiaLearn’s program philosophy so we strongly encourage students to pursue language instruction in order to experience a deeper connection with the people and the country. AsiaLearn recommends that students combine classes in their major with language instruction and area studies to establish a well-rounded academic program that maximizes their learning opportunities abroad. Although English is a common language in many of AsiaLearn’s program destinations, we recognize the need for basic communication in the host language. Therefore, all students will receive online survival language instruction prior to departure to help prepare for successful integration into their host country. Additional survival language instruction will be covered in the in-country Program Introduction to ensure students feel comfortable communicating their basic needs and to help them through daily interactions with locals.
