About AsiaLearn

AsiaLearn is an educational program of GlobaLinks and a sister program of AustraLearn, a leader in the field of international education with a 18 year history sending over 18,000 students abroad to partner universities in Australia, New Zealand, and the South Pacific. Our strength is derived from quality student support services and close relationships formed with both our partner universities abroad and the home institutions of our participating students. Why use AsiaLearn?

We are consistently working to provide students with the best value for their investment while providing superior service and support to every student before departure, during the study abroad term and upon return home. AsiaLearn is committed to implementing best practices in the field of international education such as The Forum’s “Standards of Practice” and NAFSA’s Code of Ethics and Marketing Practices.

AsiaLearn provides essential services for successful integration. Our philosophy and commitment is to adequately educate students on the university, city and country in which they intend to study and prepare them for successful adjustment and integration in the host culture while providing necessary in-country support services throughout their program.

AsiaLearn meets the academic needs of a broad range of students. We partner with universities in Asia that can accommodate students pursuing a wide variety of majors. Our partner universities offer classes instructed in English so students with little or no proficiency in the language of the host country are welcomed and encouraged to participate. All students are encouraged to pursue language, culture and history classes as part of their academic program.

AsiaLearn pays attention to the details. We strive for excellence with each student by communicating clearly and often. Our attention to detail assures that the student, parents, and the home institution are well informed and kept up-to-date on the status of applications, emergency issues, billing, etc. Through our affiliate program we are able to compliment and respond to the unique needs, policies, and procedures of our affiliate university partners.

AsiaLearn takes risk management seriously. We evaluate and adapt our program and services on risk assessment and management in order to minimize risk exposure, protect students from the unexpected and enhance value added service. For the students’ benefit, AsiaLearn allows North American students to pay in U.S. Dollars thus allowing us to leverage our expertise and purchasing power in the currency market. AsiaLearn also has a comprehensive organizational liability plan.

AsiaLearn has a detailed emergency response plan. Our official Emergency Response Plan (ERP) is maintained and assessed regularly to ensure its effectiveness in a time of crisis. We remain in contact with students while abroad and provide State Department travel warnings and security alerts via email. Our in-country staff plays a critical role in our ERP as they are available 24 hours a day for emergency support.

AsiaLearn facilitates reflection and application of the study abroad experience. Upon returning home, program participants receive the AsiaLearn Alumni Handbook. This handbook is designed to help students reflect on their overseas experience and help identify future professional and personal pursuits. Students are also invited to join our unique re-entry program is called enCompass.

Why work with program providers?

The best blend of academic and cultural integration, student services and cost is often found through partnerships with organizations that specialize in study abroad program development, logistics, and services. Keep in mind not all program providers are alike. There are many program models with different strengths that should be evaluated carefully based on the attributes that your university and students deem the most important.

Program Providers who facilitate direct enrolment at international universities offer knowledge, experience, and support that compliment and align with services of both the home institution and host university. In addition to providing structure, guidance, and support to students, Program Providers serve as a liaison between home and host university and provide a number of value added services. When comparing Program Providers, you should inquire about the following:

  • Academic, cultural, and special needs counseling
  • Process for facilitating admission and course enrollment
  • Liability and risk management
  • Insurance coverage for the activities of the organization and students
  • Emergency response plan
  • Student Code of Conduct contract
  • Integration through immersion in the host culture
  • Health and safety knowledge based on history and in-country expertise
  • Housing and meal (board) options
  • Transportation assistance (international and domestic)
  • Visa, passport and insurance knowledge, contracts and procurement
  • In-country orientation, assistance and programming
  • Transcript issuance and credit interpretation upon completion of study
  • Student registration with the nearest United States or Canadian Embassy
  • Post experience evaluations and re-entry programs
  • Billing and foreign currency fluctuation controls
  • 24 hour emergency access for students, parents, and advisors
